Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Seyed Ali Akbar Ojag-Nejad made the remarks during a nightly gathering in Nabovat Square in the holy city of Qom, where he honored the memory of those martyred in enemy attacks on Qom and other parts of the country and congratulated the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab (PBUH).
He highlighted the personality traits of Hazrat Zainab and the duties of the Iranian nation under current circumstances, noting that one of the most prominent characteristics of the revered lady was her devotion and servitude to God — she did not abandon her night prayers even under the harshest conditions of the Karbala tragedy.
The cleric described resistance and commitment to duty as other defining features of Hazrat Zainab, recalling that after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH), when the tents were set ablaze and the Ahlul Bayt (PBUH) faced immense hardships, she turned to Imam Sajjad (PBUH) to determine her duty — demonstrating that discerning and fulfilling one's duty is essential in any situation.
Ojag-Nejad also pointed to Hazrat Zainab's role in keeping the message of Ashura alive, saying that if nations today commemorate Imam Hussein (PBUH) and enemies fear the culture of Ashura, this is largely owed to her sermons, bravery and courage.
He described the current situation in the country as a test for the Iranian nation, saying that while Iranians have previously demonstrated their devotion to Imam Hussein (PBUH) through mourning ceremonies, pilgrimages and religious rituals, they are now at a different stage of that test and must show in practice that they stand on the path of Imam Hussein (PBUH).
Referring to the enemy's insistence that Iran surrender, the custodian of the Holy Jamkaran Mosque underscored that just as Imam Hussein (PBUH) did not submit to Yazid, the Iranian nation will resist enemy demands — a stance that has exacted costs, including the martyrdom of commanders and civilians and damage to the country's infrastructure, but Iran continues to pursue its path based on independence and resistance.
Ojag-Nejad emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not seeking war, stating: "We are not warmongers and want to build our country, but war has been imposed on us." In such circumstances, he said, the armed forces and the diplomatic apparatus each bear distinct responsibilities and must be able to carry out their missions.
He continued that the armed forces operate on the battlefield defending the country, while diplomats convey the Islamic Republic's positions to the world through negotiation and dialogue. The message of the battlefield is refusal to surrender to the enemy, and the message of diplomacy is that Iran is not the initiator of war and has never sought to impose war on others.
The cleric warned against allowing the enemy to undermine national cohesion by sowing discord, calling for support for the armed forces and those fulfilling their duties in the diplomatic arena. "We are not fully aware of the details of all issues and decisions, and each sector must be able to operate within the framework of its responsibilities," he said.
Emphasizing the necessity of following the Leader's guidance, Ojag-Nejad added that it is the duty of all to maintain cohesion under current conditions and support the path set for defending the country.
In conclusion, he expressed hope that through the resistance of the Iranian nation and the efforts of the armed forces and those serving the country, victory will be achieved and this path will lead to the reappearance of Hazrat Vali Asr (may God hasten his reappearance).
